About Us

About Us

At Hair and Hound we want every dog's grooming experience to be an enjoyable one. With many of our clients previously having bad experiences, suffering from medical conditions or simply anxious to be groomed; we work hard, with both dog and owner to develop your pet's confidence in the hope, they once again enjoy the grooming experience.

We take a relaxed 'home from home' approach with all clients; your dog is treated as if they're our own with plenty of fusses, treats and play time in the garden. We pride ourselves on our 'Humanity before Vanity' ethos with your dogs welfare being of the utmost importance; we never use cabinet dryers and will only use table restraints when absolutely necessary. We also use the Tellington Touch technique to help relieve tension in the dog and create a feeling of calm and well being.

Within the salon we use the completely natural product range from Wildwash. Their entire range contains no Parabens, Phthalates, Phosphates, Sulfates, Petrochemicals, or PEG’s. They are hard working products that are kind to your dogs skin as well as the environment plus they have the added benefit of smelling fantastic. To create a calming environment, we use 100% pure essential oils, diffused throughout that salon, to help relax your dog without any harsh chemicals.

Our small shop also offers a range of Wildwash products and grooming equipment to allow the salon experience to continue at home. Our experienced, knowledgeable groomer can advise you on how to get the best from your dogs coat as well as the style that best suits your lifestyle to ensure their coat always remains in top condition and matt free.

We appreciate how busy life can be so we offer evening and weekend appointments as well as a reasonable day care rate, so you can be sure of a stress free grooming experience for both you and your dog.

Olivia About Me
 Olivia
During a successful career in events I decided to adopt a dog, instead of a dog I got a Mary (also known as Moo, Lady Mooington, PD (pupdog) and the princess) and my life completely changed. I decided to pursue my dream and change careers to do something I love, working with dogs. I am City and Guilds qualified and have gained a wealth of experience grooming dogs of differing breeds so you can be assured that I have all the skills required to groom your pet. I have also successful completed a Canine First Responder course so you can have confidence that, should anything happen, your beloved pet is in safe hands. The salon was built by us and has all the latest grooming equipment; the garden is large and spacious with plenty of space for your dogs to run around and play. More recently I have embarked on the biggest adventure of all, motherhood. My son has taught me a new level of patience and has given me a greater appreciation for my business and the work I do. I love dogs and I am pleased to welcome you to our salon and promise to treat your dog with as much love and respect as I would my own.
Olivia About Me
Mary
In my old racing life I was known as Galtee Mary and if I am honest I was a pretty rubbish racer, I won one race but things went a little downhill from there. After that I was put up for adoption and was lucky enough to find my mum (Olivia) and this was when my life really began. Retired life can sometimes be hard, choosing whether to lie on the sofa or the bed can be difficult, as can choosing which stuffy to play with. My life is now filled with snuggles, treats and squirrel chases and I wouldn't change it for the world. Mum has left me in charge of Hair and Hound's social media, she says I am a mogul, whatever that means! I especially like putting pictures of my adventures on Instagram and watching the fun my friends from around the world are having. When you arrive I will be there to greet you and we can have a play in the garden or maybe sneak some treats, I also know all about the grooming process and will be on hand if anyone is nervous or needs some reassurance. If you would like to know more about my adventures or the life of a groomers dog, check out my blog or Instagram page @marythegreyhound
